Haikus through Hebrews, chapter 6

Chapter 6 Summary:

God's promises sure
By promise and oath, fulfilled
In Jesus, High Priest

So press on, brothers,
With assurance of hope in
Jesus our anchor

*Important Note: Please read through the whole of Hebrews (I recommend the English Standard Version or New American Standard Bible) for contextual significance (and significant context!).  There is a lot of Scriptural meat found outside these 17 syllables.  I pray that the Spirit will cover over any errors made, and most importantly, speak truth to your heart.  To God alone be the glory!

6:1
Leave basic teachings
Go on to maturity
Not laying again

6:1 (continued)

A foundation of
Repentance from dead works and

Of faith toward God,

6:2
Instruction about
Baptisms, laying on of
Hands, resurrection

6:2-3
Of the dead, and of
Eternal judgment.  And God
Permitting, we will.

6:4
It's impossible
For those who once have tasted
The heavenly gift,

6:4 (continued)
Those who have once been
Enlightened, and have shared in
The Holy Spirit,

6:5
Who have tasted the
Goodness of the word of God
And powers to come

6:6
If they fall away
To bring back to repentance
They reject the Son

6:6 (continued)
Crucifying him
All over again, holding
Him up to contempt.

6:7
Land that drinks the rain
Produces useful crops
Receives God's blessing

6:8
But if it bears thorns
It's worthless and near cursing
Its end is burning

6:9
But we are convinced
Of better things for you that
Point to salvation

God is not unjust
To forget your works and love
You have shown his name

6:10 (continued)
As you have helped his
People and continue to
Minister to them

We want each of you
To show this same diligence
To the very end

So as to realize
The full assurance of hope
Do not be slothful

But follow those who
Inherit the promises
Through faith and patience

For when God made his
Promise to Abraham, since
There is none greater,

God swore by himself,
Saying, "I will surely bless
And multiply you."

And so Abraham
Obtained the promise since he
Waited patiently

For men swear by one
Grater than themselves, with their
Oath confirmation

When God desired to
Show more convincingly to
Heirs of promise

6:17 (continued)
The unchangeable
Character of his purpose
He guaranteed it

With an oath, so that
By two unchangeable things,
His promise and oath,

In these which it is
Impossible that God lie,
We who've fled to him

6:19 (continued)
For refuge can have
Strong encouragement to hold
The hope before us

6:19 (continued)
This hope our anchor
Both sure and steadfast enters
Behind the curtain

6:20
Where Jesus has gone
As forerunner for us, our
High priest forever
